Environmental forum at Mayday Books, July 28
On Monday, July 28th at 7 p.m., at Mayday Books, 301 Cedar Avenue South, 3CTC will persent two films dealing with consumption and waste, followed by an open discussion exploring these issues. The films will be The Story of Stuff, an animated short produced by the Tides Foundation and Funders Workgroup for Sustainable Production and Consumption; and The Story of Garbage — American Style, which was an official selection at the 2008 Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival and the 2007 Greenbuild Film Festival. Both films will address in detail the social and environmental effects of modern consumer culture and practices. The discussion afterwards will focus on how to reconcile current environmental issues connected with society’s rate of waste production.
Preceding the films will be “The Clean-Energy Vigil to Cool Down the Planet,” taking place out on the plaza at 5 p.m., and the 3CTC Business Meeting, taking place at 6 p.m.
