Second round mnSPin winners to play live show Saturday, June 28, at Grumpy’s Bar

Local music contest, mnSpin, presented by mnartists.org, Summit Brewery, Springboard for the Arts, and McNally Smith College of Music, will be holding a listening party to feature the second round winning musicians Saturday, June 28 at Grumpy’s Bar and Grill at 1111 Washington Avenue S.

Holding four rounds of competition each year, mnSpin provides local artists with the opportunity to submit their music for listening and judging by music industry professionals. Each round produces three winners who are then featured live at a chosen local venue, as well as given a spot on a final compilation CD of all the winners released at the end of the year.

Acoustic singer/songwriter Ben Connelly, ambient electronica group Glorious Monster, and pop pianist Josiah Wordsworth have won the second round this year, and will each perform a set at this Saturday’s event. Between sets, DJs will spin a mix of local music and the Minnesota History Center will provide entertainment in the form of Minnesota music and Summit Beer trivia.

The event is a free opportunity for local music supporters and those interested in discovering new music to take part in a night-long celebration of the rich and ongoing history of music in the Twin Cities. Doors open at 8 p.m. and you must be 21 years of age or older to attend. For more information on mnSpin and the 2008 winners thus far, visit mnartists.org.
