The annual Prospect Park Neighborhood Garden Walk and Plant Sale will
be held on Saturday, June 21st, 2008, from 10 am until 3 pm.
The Plant Sale will be located outside Pratt Elementary School (66
Malcolm Ave. SE), two blocks south of University Ave. SE on Malcolm
Ave. SE.
The Garden Walk is FREE. You will be able to tour 20 local gardens
that cover a variety of garden types: perennial and annual,
vegetable and flower, shade and sun. Expect to see innovative use of
space and growing conditions, especially shade (which Prospect Park
has in abundance).
You can pick up a map on the day of the Garden Walk at: Pratt Elementary School (66 Malcolm Ave. SE), Schneider Drug (3400 University Ave. SE), Signature Restaurant (130 Warwick Ave. SE) or Cup Cake (3338 University Ave. SE).
The Neighborhood Garden Club is asking Gardeners to donate their
surplus plants to the Neighborhood Plant Sale.
Sale proceeds will be used by the Garden Club primarily to control
buckthorn in the neighborhood.
Plants can be dropped off at the Plant Sale Booth (at the corner of
Malcolm and Orlin) from 8:30 AM until 11 AM.
If you wish to put your donated plants in pots, surplus pots are
available at 88 Orlin Ave SE.
Also if you wish to donate extra paper bags, plastic sacks and
cardboard boxes, those would also be appreciated.
