Finnegan’s ShamROCK, June 6–7

Featuring five excellent bands, food and, of course, plenty of beer, Finnegan’s Irish Amber Brewery is holding its second annual summer concert at The Cabooze on Saturday, June 7, 2–10 p.m. True to its philosophy of being a socially conscious brew, Finnegan’s will be donating all proceeds from this event to Heading Home Hennepin, a 10-year plan to end homelessness in Minneapolis and Hennepin County.

Since its collaboration with Finnegan’s Summerfest concert last year, Heading Home Hennepin has continued to make progress towards its goal, creating new housing options, providing homeless citizens with mental healthcare resources and promoting local awareness and outreach. Last year’s Finnegan’s Summerfest benefit concert raised $5,000 for Heading Home Hennepin and a new shelter for homeless youth.

ShamROCK 2008 is sure to be another great opportunity for music lovers (and beer lovers) to participate in a good cause while enjoying a day of fun and entertainment.

Rain or shine, this year’s music line-up on The Cabooze’s outdoor stage is a cohesive mix of Americana, folk and rock. Starting off the bill is local Americana favorite, Romantica, followed by the highly energetic, gospel-tinged A Night in the Box, Slim Cessna’s Autoclub from Denver, and local Minnesota Music Award-winning artists, Ol’ Yeller. Last but not least, Built to Spill, the headliner hailing from Boise, Idaho, promises to deliver to devoted fans and new listeners alike their blend of melodic power pop and overdriven rock anthems. More information on the music and the ShamROCK after-party, as well as ways to volunteer for Finnegan’s events, may be found at the event’s website, www.finnegansshamrock.org.
