The Guthrie ushers in spring with Shakespeare’s timeless tale of summer enchantment (in more than one sense of the word.) The Guthrie promises “sexy young lovers and sensual fairies” and a “hot music beat providing an unforgettable tempo” in a “magical forest of frivolity” — all appropriate for this comedic favorite’s run up to the shortest night of the year. The cast — many magically transformed by fantastical costumes and makeup — consists of recent Guthrie Experience and University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program graduates, as well as other local actors. The Guthrie has augmented the on-stage action with a website, www.MyMidsummer.com, which features blogs from the cast and creative team, behind-the-scenes videos, news, an eCard option and Midsummer desktop and MySpace art.
