NIEBNA meeting rescheduled for Tuesday, March 25
The Nicollet Island/East Bank Neighborhood Association (NIEBNA) will meet on Tuesday, March 25, rather than March 18. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Rachel’s restaurant, 222 E. Hennepin Ave.
At its January meeting, NIEBNA changed its meeting day to the third Tuesday of every other month, rather than Mondays. The March issue of The Bridge has the old and incorrect information.
Here is the March meeting agenda:
AGENDA
Presentations, Updates & Announcements
1. Presentation on the proposed Grandstay Hotel at 708 Central Avenue
NE [Justin Zavadil from ETC Enterprises] — this is a follow-up to a
presentation they made last November. ETC Enterprises (the developers) have
requests for some zoning variances and conditional use permits on the City
Planning Commission agenda for March 31, 2008. We will need to take action
on this matter at the meeting.
2. Presentation about North Memorial Urgent Care facility proposed for
the Lunds/Cobalt retail space next to Prairie Stone Pharmacy (Dr. Colleen
Cooper, Leah Martodam, and Mike Foley) – this clinic (now located at 2nd St
NE & 13th Ave NE) will take all the retail space on Central Avenue from
Prairie Stone to Cost Cutters. Projected opening is September 2008.
3. Design Change for Phoenix on the River (David Frank, Schaefer
Richardson) – just an announcement really. SR wants to add additional
windows to the lower level space facing the street. So far, everybody seems
to like the idea and SR is not seeking any resolution of support at this
time.
4. Q&A with 3rd Ward CM Diane Hofstede
- Traffic/Parking Issues (on-going)
- Problem Properties
- Data from Fire Marshall on emergency service on Nicollet Island
- Current status of NRP and Community Involvement Initiative
- Other issues
NIEBNA Business Meeting
1. Annual Meeting and Board election – this was initially scheduled
for late March, but arrangements could not be made in good time. Suggest we
reschedule for mid-May as a replacement for the normal Board meeting.
2. Future of NRP discussion and possible actions – should we apply
for NRP Phase II funding? What about Community Funding (approx $2,000, ours
for the asking apparently)?
3. Neighborhood Design Charette Status – follow-up to meeting on
Feb 27.
4. Schedule and location of Board meetings in for balance of 2008.
5. Events in the neighborhood of possible interest:
6. Other and New business
last revised: March 18, 2008
