No arrest yet in shooting incident involving 6-year-old Cedar-Riverside girl

Two days after a 6-year-old girl was grazed by a bullet, police are still looking for the suspect, said Sgt. Jesse Garcia, public information officer for the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD).

On the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 13, Zamzam Mohamed and others were waiting for a school bus inside a vestibule at Riverside Plaza, 1615 S. 4th St., when a gun apparently slipped from a man’s waistband and went off, the StarTribune reported. The bullet grazed Mohamed’s leg; she was treated at Hennepin County Medical Center and and released later that day.

Garcia said that police have “pretty good video” from a surveillance camera, but no arrest had been made in the ongoing investigation as of late Friday morning. From the video, Garcia said the man appears to be a Somali male in his teens or early 20s.
